Born
in Budapest, Hungary, Attila began playing
piano under his father's direction at an
early age. When his family moved to Toronto,
Canada, he studied classical piano and organ
with Dr. David Ouchterlony. In his late
teens, he became interested in and began
studying jazz. He graduated with an Honours
Bachelor of Music Performance degree from
the University of Toronto in 1996.
As a performing musician and bandleader, he
has toured Europe, Japan, Korea, Brazil,
Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and the United
States, making radio and television
appearances along the way. Attila's
extensive experience includes performing and
recording with people such as Dan Gibson,
producer Jack Douglas of Aerosmith/John
Lennon fame, Peter Appleyard, Hendrik
Meurkens, Bob DeAngelis,
Reg Schwager, Rob Piltch, members of The
Boss Brass and The National Ballet of
Canada, Nell Carter, Randy Cook, The Trews,
Indian music stars A.R. Rahman, Hariharan,
Shankar Mahadevan, Sivamani, Kailash Kher,
Jolly Mukherjee, Madhushree and more.
Teaching has always been part of Attila’s
regular schedule, and he has taught hundreds
of students during his 15 years of
experience as an educator. He has taught at
privately and at institutions such as
Queen's University, Trinity College School
and others, including clinics, band
coaching, masterclasses and music writing
courses.
Attila has produced, composed, arranged, and
performed for Universal/MCA, Sony/BMG,
Somerset Entertainment,
Fisher Price, and independent labels, on
over 80 internationally distributed CDs.
With over two million units sold worldwide,
including a platinum and three gold-selling
albums in Canada, they cover a diverse range
of styles including jazz, world music, rock, country,
gospel, big band swing, new age, classical, latin, bossa nova, R&B, children's music,
Indian fusion, small ensemble (brass
quintet, string ensembles etc) and pop. He has
also been involved in recording film music
for North America and India, and has worked with acclaimed producer
Rodney Jerkins for Universal Pictures.
