Attila and his quartet recently
performed at the prestigious and
glamorous 61st annual Governor's Ball
for the Emmy Awards. Playing on a
stage in the center of the ballroom,
Attila had a beautiful Schimmel Grand
K 213 G piano - the dazzling visual
spotlight - at his fingers.
To open the party, the bands played a
two-tune medley to bring in the guests
- all 3600 of them! Once everybody was
inside, among the many celebrities
walking about with their newly won
Emmys in hand, the high-powered
producers and directors, their friends
and guests, and the free flowing Grey
Goose martinis and exquisite food and
wine, the Quartet started with a set
of stylish jazz standards. Joined
later by vocalist Matt Alber for a
couple of songs, the Quartet finished
their first set, and enjoyed some
mingling while Norm Roper's dance band
played some great cover tunes.
After the break, during which the
Quartet musicians sampled some drinks
and did some "star-gazing" and rubbing
shoulders with the very friendly and
surprisingly approachable crowd, they
returned for their second set. As the
dance band's set had ended on a high
energy song, the Quartet continued the
intensity and kicked it off with a
lively latin version of a jazz
standard and didn't let the energy die
down from there! The party was going
full force by then, with most people
having finished their dinners and
mingling and laughing. There were many
people taking pictures of the Quartet
and enjoying the music, clapping and
cheering at the ends of tunes. The
Quartet finished their set and Norm
Roper's band once again took over with
the dance floor quickly filling up and
the party reaching its climax, and as
the typically early LA crowd was
partying and dancing, it eventually
started to thin out, with many
probably going on to the after-parties
and after-after parties...
What an enjoyable night! More pictures
and video to follow.
